Marta earned her BS and MS at the University of New Hampshire. She has worked with children in the school setting for 13 years with a focus on gaining functional skills for increased independence and meaningful participation throughout the school day. She currently provides direct services at Maple Wood Elementary in Somersworth. For the past 7 years, she has served as the OT/ PT Program Director at Strafford Learning Center where she has been a member of the leadership and technology committees. Marta is currently a co-facilitator working to bring Every Moment Counts, an OT lead initiative focused on promoting positive mental health, to the state of New Hampshire. When not at work her interests include cooking, reading and chasing her three small children.

Ruth Ashley

Ruth Ashley graduated as a member of Phi Theta Kappa from the occupational therapist assistant program at NHTI- Claremont in 1994. She has worked as a certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, Licensed (COTA/L) for 24 years and has been with Strafford Learning Center for 17.
Ruth enjoys her work with students ages 5 to 21 in school programs and thrives on the variety and challenges of that caseload! She is a Tai Chi for health instructor and has taught many workshops and presentations on mindfulness and movement arts. She is participating in the Every Moment Counts initiative of NH OTs and loves to incorporate mental wellness such as relaxation and calming strategies into student sessions. Coloring "therapy" and doodling arts are favorites of hers as well as paper arts such as card-making and scrap-booking.

Claire Bascio

Claire Bascio is a staff Occupational Therapist with experience in inpatient mental health, sensory clinic treatment and school based settings. She has been practicing occupational therapy for 16 years; she received a BS from Northeastern University in 1994, a Master of Occupational Therapy Degree from Worcester State College in 2001 and completed the post-graduate certificate program in Assistive Technology at the University of New Hampshire in 2007. She helped establish and is part of the Assistive Technology Team (ATeam) at Strafford Learning Center, providing teams with technology options for students with a variety of skills, to better access the curriculum. She lives in Maine with her husband and two kids and enjoys time spending with her family, hiking, crafts, scrapbooking and vacationing.

Lynne Bastien

Lynne graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1999. She found her passion for school based therapy right away and has always worked in this setting. Lynne has worked at Strafford Learning Center for 16 of her 17 years as a practicing OT. She is an active member of SLC’ Professional Development Committee. Lynne has worked with students from preschool to high school but most enjoys elementary aged students. Lynne currently provides services at Mohairmet Elementary School. She has served as a fieldwork instructor for many OT students and loves to not only teach students about OT but continues to learn from them as well. Lynne has a son and a daughter and spends her time at the soccer field and dance studio. An important occupation for Lynne is kayaking and spending time at the lake.

Sara Buchanan

Sara earned a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from University of New England in Biddeford, ME. She has over 18 years of experience in a variety of settings including early intervention, outpatient sensory integration clinics, and public schools. Sara also has her certification as a ChildLight Yoga Trainer and a School site Trainer for Yoga4Classrooms. She is currently involved in a project to promote OT leadership in the area of mental health promotion. Additional areas of training include sensory integration and therapeutic listening. Sara provides services in the Somersworth School District. Sara has a wonderful husband, daughter, and son. She spends most of her time, outside of work, supporting her daughter in dance and her son in hockey and baseball. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, as well as spending time at the ocean, doing yoga, going to the gym, and reading.

Judith Churchill

Judie has worked at Strafford Learning Center for 20 years. She has worked with students at all grade levels and in every district we serve through the years, and also served as OT Program Director for several years in the past. Judie is certified in Sensory Integration, and her areas of expertise are in sensory processing, fine motor and visual difficulty. She is currently studying with Every Moment Counts to become a mental health promoter in schools and in her community. She strives to find ways in her practice to help alleviate anxiety and encourage children to get outside and move their bodies more in creative ways! Judie really enjoys her students and loves watching them learn new skills and strategies as they develop. She lives with her husband John, they have three wonderful grown sons, and two grandsons age 5 and 1 year. She loves being a grandmother!! Judie also loves to be outdoors, kayaking, gardening, doing yoga, and dabbles in painting, knitting and bridge.

Nannette Clark

Nannette graduated from UNH.  She unexpectedly fell in love with school-based pediatric therapy.  She is an active fieldwork supervisor, helping to teach and impact future OT leaders. Believes in team collaboration and helping the whole child to be successful in school and out!

Beth graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy and a minor in French from the University of New Hampshire in 1999.  She has worked in a variety of populations including mental health, substance abuse, home health and hospice care.  She is passionate about helping students be their best self.  Beth has been part of Every Moment Counts this school year which integrates her desire to assist students in their occupation of being learners and her background in mental health.  She enjoys reading taking trail hikes, being at the lake and ocean, knitting, and spending time with her three children.

She currently works in the Oyster River Schools with a primary focus on early education students. Beverly also supports middle school students. She most enjoys seeing a student’s pride as they gain functional skills that allow them to be successful in their school setting. Beverly loves to be outside gardening or enjoying the beach.

Ashley LaRochelle

Ashley earned her bachelor's and master's degrees at the University of New Hampshire. Since then, she has explored Early Supports and Services, school settings ranging from preschool to high school, and outpatient pediatrics. She loves seeing the world through the eyes of the children she works with, and is passionate about allowing children to develop skills in the most natural settings possible. Ashley has worked with Timbernook to learn about the advantages of outdoor play for the developing child, trained in Therapeutic Listening to learn how to use the vestibular system to target areas of development, and has most recently begun treating in her home-based outpatient clinic in Wolfeboro while continuing to enjoy preschool and elementary school settings with Strafford Learning Center. When she's not treating at schools and clinics, Ashley most enjoys sharing outdoor and travel adventures with her husband and daughter.

A master’s graduate from UNE, April is a registered occupational therapist who is dedicated to working with elementary students. She is dedicated to providing evidenced-based practice to students in the typical school setting or alternative schools. Her passion is to help students be more successful by learning with a multi-sensory, hands-on approach and to change their mindsets from “unable” to “not yet able”. She enjoys providing movement opportunities in many ways and is learning more about addressing mental health concerns and providing early intervention. When not at work April loves spending time with her pup and co-managing a cross fit gym.

Cheryl Patch

Cheryl earned her BS at the University of New Hampshire.  She has worked with middle school students for 20 years and currently provides direct and consultative services at Oyster River Middle School in Durham, NH. Cheryl focuses on using technology and coaches’ students on executive function for independence.  She started an after-school Minecraft club six years ago to help students connect with peers socially and the club has grown to involve over 70 students.

When not at work, her interests include running with her dogs, fishing and playing the guitar.

Suzanne Roy

Suzanne has been an Occupational Therapist for 30 years. She graduated from Mount Mary College in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy and a minor in Biology.   In 1998 she received her advanced Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from UNH  In order to understand the full scope of occupational therapy practice in which OT’s work, Suzanne spent the first ten years of her career working in many different environments, she worked with clients in skilled nursing, work hardening, hand therapy, head injury, mental health, schools and early intervention. Twenty years ago Suzanne found her work home at Strafford Learning Center. In her time at SLC she crafted and solidified the Level I and Level II fieldwork programs, she has presented at many profession development days and she assisted in developing the ATeam. Currently she serves on a preschool leadership team which is a grant funded program through the state of New Hampshire that promotes implementing the Pyramid Model for social emotional development for preschool students. In her free time Suzanne enjoys biking, swimming, reading and spending quality time with her three children.

Jane Sinsky

Jane Sinsky, M.ed, OTR/L

Jane received her BS  in Allied health from the University of Madison, WI and her Masters in Education from Antioch New England Graduate School.  Her thesis involved developing a workshop for elementary teachers to teach handwriting using a developmental approach.  Jane has over 30 years’ experience as an occupational therapist, 15 of which have been in the area of pediatrics. She has worked in neonatal care at Stanford University Hospital, Early Intervention, birth through 3 year olds in the home setting through Visiting Nurses, and with special needs students in a residential setting.  Jane has delivered OT services in MA, NH and ME school districts for students in the preschool, elementary, middle and high school levels.  Jane also has current experience in an outpatient pediatric clinic.  She holds a current OT license in both ME and NH and is a member of the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
