Strafford Learning Center operates the HOPE Program in collaboration with the Rochester School District. HOPE is an off-campus, alternative-education environment for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. 

The HOPE Program is designed with the idea that every student can learn.  It is built upon the following three pillars:

  • Personalized Planning
  • Positive Behavior Supports
  • Alternative Learning Strategies

Hope is designed for students with emotional and or behavioral challenges who need a structured and alternative educational setting.  The program's focus is on Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) that will enhance a student's access to the district's general curriculum.  Research based instructional approaches will be impletmented such as:

  • Rochester School District Curriculum
  • Skills Streaming Curriculum
  • Transition Planning
  • Life Space Crisis Intervention (LSCI)
  • Learning Pathways, i.e. classroom-embedded, technology-based and or project-based learning
